It Seemed Like a Decent PayPerPost Alternative…

There was a little buzz around Smorty, a PayPerPost-type service, so I figured I’d sign-up and test it out. (Plus, I had been rejected by PayPerPost anyway, since I didn’t display monthly archive links…)
Then I checked the rules and they have “over 25 criteria” that they look for before accepting your blog. Pretty strict, but I thought this blog (live for 2 years, multiple posts per week, etc) was pretty good.
Well… they did not!
Since I have my blog at http://internetmarketingsucks.com/blog/ instead of at the root URL http://internetmarketingsucks.com/, it was declined.
I guess it would have been fine at http://mylameblog.blogspot.com (according to some other bloggers that use Smorty,) but my URL choice wasn’t good enough. The fact that my blog is just one of the many beautiful sections of my website means that Smorty is just missing out.
Regardless, what a lame policy. I encourage everyone to boycott Smorty because of it.
Why the boycott? Because having a lame policy is a great reason to boycott them!

Click here to buy me a beer, because damn, I need to get drunk to forget how much internet marketing sucks!

I have better reasons even : I made 3 different attempt to become paid, each time they rejected me.
Ever since I haven`t even try again - each time there was a change in keywords for link AFTER I made the post.
Smorty is kinda paid-for-review which clients`s care is not the content of review but the quality of them linkback. In fact, that`s for they request blog-on-domain.
You may try to build a subdomain (if is included in your domain-hosting packeage) and make a http://blog.internetmarketingsucks.com pointed to folder of blog …
ut if you ask me twice, I won`t recommend smorty, reviewme, payperpost and several others.
Thanks for the warning. I will avoid them. Cheers!
Yep, they all suck.
The fact that they suck, plus the latest Google crackdown, means that I’m ditching anything that looks like paid links.
(Except for my ReviewMe graphic, of course
)
Ya, that graphic is too cool to loose it, Levi
I think suck is an understatement in this case.
Besides I can think of about 40 bazillion blogs that have the same content and 125 x 125 ads on them when you mention keywords like make money.
Being a little different is a novelty these days.
