Neat Idea for Proxy Site Domain Names

proxy websites blocked

Most proxies used to have names like proxy.com, webproxy.com, etc. Anything with “proxy” in the domain. But that trend hit a big road block whenever filters were developed to automatically block any URL that has “proxy” in it.

People then came up with ideas like bypassfilters.com and unblockmyspace.com, but even those are obvious.

So what do you do?

Get a URL that looks like something kids should be looking at in school. A couple good examples are apenglish.info and apchemistry.info. They are regular proxies, but the domain names will probably fool most school administrators!

If I were you, I’d pick up any domain names like that while they last.

P.S. School is starting this week all around the world – now is the perfect time to get your proxy network going!

I cannot stand getting that damn Websense filter at work. What do they think I’m going to work a strait 8, no I’m surfing the web and blogging. This websense keeps me off a lot of my favorite blogs.

Yeah I remember that from the Old school days trying to get into Myspace.com and all of those sites through the school computers.

  9. My friend has a proxy called pandasurf.info basically it looks like its about “Panda News” and teacher and filters can’t tell the difference :) .

I have always though putting the word proxy in your domain name was a bad idea but never thought to much about using those kind of names but i often make the title of my proxies the same as the title of our schools home page so if the tab isn’t open it looks like the homepage. =]

  11. pixonica_web proxy on February 14th, 2009

Yup, need hiding the domain name too for administrator :)

Great advise. I registered aplanguage.info and I noticed it took much longer to get blocked but it looks like your idea has spread because most of the good ones are gone. However there is one major flaw in you plan. Google adsense can look at domain name bring up irrelevant ads causing your click through rate and earnings to drop. It also hurts you if you do any SEO with your proxy.
