I’m Not a Big Fan of Microsoft, But…
I view Microsoft as just another big corporation and make fun of it when necessary, but some people are getting all bent out of shape over nothing. I’m talking about when Microsoft offered bloggers a free laptop loaded with Vista in exchange for a review of the new OS. That’s perfectly normal, but for some reason it’s causing quite a stir online.
You can read the comments at places like ProBlogger and istartedsomething.com. The majority of readers are flipping out about how it’s wrong and unethical to have people review your products. I don’t get it.
To be honest, I think it’s a great idea. Companies started this long before the Internet, so I’m not sure what the big deal is now.
As consumers, you should be happy! Microsoft is asking for reviews of their new OS. If you don’t like it, you can tell them, and then they can make it better!
This is one case where I’m on Microsoft’s side (as is Scoble.)
